Landscape Design: Burlington Barge Canal

In the Fall of 2024, as part of my MS in Food Systems at the University of VT, I had the privilege of taking a 1:1 class called Advanced Landscape Design Studio. My professor/mentor was Dr. Fortino Acosta, a practicing landscape designer focused on ecological and biodiverse cityscapes, and the water-food-energy nexus. With Fortino’s guidance, I went through an in-depth site analysis process at a former EPA superfund site locally, in the city of Burlington, VT. Through an iterative creative process involving hand and digital drawing, I developed a proposed set of designs for the site.
